About

I'm glad you're here.

Twenty years of sitting with people in the hardest parts of their lives, and still convinced that the right conversation, at the right time, changes things.

I'm Sabrina Duong, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maine and Florida and a Registered Social Worker in Ontario. I've worked in community mental health, hospitals, schools, and private practice, with adults, teens, and children. Today my practice is entirely online, which lets me see people wherever they are in those three places, in a space that is already theirs.

How I work

My approach is reflective and collaborative. We pay attention to the patterns that keep repeating in your life and to how the past shows up in the present, because change that doesn't account for that rarely lasts. At the same time, I'm practical. You'll leave most sessions with something concrete to try.

I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), including CBT for insomnia, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness-based approaches, and play and expressive therapies for younger clients. I fit the approach to you, not the other way around, and I'll tell you what I'm doing and why.

What I believe about therapy

  • You are the expert on your own life. My job is to help you see it more clearly and act on what you see.
  • The relationship is the therapy. Technique matters, but feeling understood matters more.
  • Your body is part of the story: sleep, hormones, pain, and food all belong in the room.
  • Therapy should have an end. We'll talk about what "done" looks like from the start.

Training and credentials

  • Master of Social Work [school, year]
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Maine (LC23305) and Florida (TPSW6547)
  • Registered Social Worker, Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers [registration number]
  • Training in CBT, CBT for insomnia, DBT skills, mindfulness-based interventions, and play therapy [confirm certificates to list]

Beyond the office

I host two podcasts, What Would Sabrina Say for anyone curious about mental health and The Therapist Lounge for clinicians, and I speak to workplaces, schools, and professional groups. [A personal line or two: where you live, what you do to recharge.]
