Grief & loss

Support after a death, a diagnosis, or an ending that changed everything.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Everyone else seems to have moved on, and you haven’t.
  • You’re functioning, mostly, and then something small undoes you.
  • You feel guilty for the moments you forget, and guilty for the moments you don’t.
  • The loss isn’t a death, so you’re not sure you’re allowed to grieve it.

How I work with this

Grief isn’t a problem to solve, and I won’t try to talk you out of it. What therapy offers is a place where the loss can be as big as it actually is, and company while you learn to carry it. We’ll talk about the person or the life you lost, about the relationship as it really was, and about what you need now. Where grief has become stuck, with the same thoughts circling for months, I bring in structured approaches that help it move again.

I have sat with a lot of grief in twenty years, including with children who have lost a parent and with people whose loss others don’t recognize. My podcast has several episodes on grief if you’d like to hear how I talk about it before we meet.

What a first session is like

You can say as much or as little as you want. Some people arrive with the whole story; some can only manage the first sentence. Both are fine.

When to reach out sooner

If you’re having thoughts of not wanting to be here, or if you can’t eat, sleep, or get through the day, please don’t wait. Book a consult, or if you’re in crisis, call or text 988.
